We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA in both light and dark themes
Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The target applies in the light theme and in the dark theme. The site follows your device’s light or dark setting, and both themes get the same tests.
This statement covers rightmark.ai, the owner, Scout and buyer portals, sign-in, the Rightmark Repo Check download page, and the emails and reports the site sends.
Status: the full pre-launch audit has not run yet, so we do not claim conformance yet. We will publish the result and its date on this page.
How the site is built for access
- Every journey works with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
- Form labels sit above their fields. Help text is part of the page, not a placeholder. Errors appear below the field they belong to and are announced to screen readers, and on submit focus moves to the first error. Error messages say what happened and what to do next.
- Text, buttons, form fields, placeholders, focus rings and disabled states are designed to meet AA contrast in both themes.
- Status is shown with text and a neutral marker, never with color alone. The confidence level on every estimate is written as High, Medium or Low beside its signal bars.
- Motion runs only when your device allows it. With reduced motion turned on, the moving deal tape becomes a static row you can scroll, and transitions only fade. The deal tape has a visible pause control. Background films never autoplay under reduced motion or Save-Data, and each is labeled "AI-generated footage".
- Images have alt text that describes what matters. Video has captions where there is speech.
- Pages are built to work on narrow phone screens without sideways scrolling, and every multi-column layout becomes one column on small screens.
- Sign-in needs no password: you type a 6-digit code from your email, or follow the sign-in link instead.
How we test before every release
Each release has to pass these checks before it ships:
- Automated checks with axe on every route, in light and dark, with zero violations at any impact level.
- A perfect Lighthouse accessibility score on every page template, on the mobile profile.
- Keyboard journeys for every role, completed without a mouse, with focus visible throughout and no focus traps.
- A screen reader smoke test of the appraisal, the intake forms and sign-in.
- Visual checks of every template at phone, tablet and desktop widths in both themes, and a check that no page scrolls sideways on the narrowest phone width we test.
Automated tools catch only part of what matters, so we also test by hand, and we fix what people tell us about.
What we are still checking
We list every barrier we know about here, with what we are doing about it and when. These areas are being checked before launch:
- The PDF appraisal report. If the PDF does not work with your assistive technology, the same report is available as a web page you can print.
- The Price Index and Deal Tracker downloads in CSV and JSON. These are data files with a header row, and the same data is on the web page.
- Rightmark Repo Check, a command-line script. Its output is plain text and Markdown in your terminal and files.
- Links to third-party sources. Each figure links to the publisher’s page, which we do not control.
Tell us about a barrier and we will help
If something on the site does not work for you, tell us. Write with "Accessibility" in the subject line.
Our contact inbox opens before launch, and its address will appear here.
It helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. Send what you can; none of it is required.
If we cannot fix the barrier at once, we tell you when we expect to, and we help you finish what you came to do another way.
About this statement
We review this statement at every release that changes the site’s templates. The date at the top of this page shows the last change.
